Stairlift Installation
Once the particular stairlift has been purchased for your relative, we at UK Stairlifts feel it’s important to tell you about the process of the stair lift installation, to give you a piece of mind.
Straight Stair Lifts
The installation of straight stairlifts is a very simple process and takes less time, generally about one to three hours. However it is a growing trend to make stair lifts that can be installed by the customer themselves. Almost all straight stair lifts are fixed to the staircase tread and never to the wall, the only exceptions are curved stairlifts.
Curved Stair Lifts
The installation process for curved stairlifts is much more complex than that of straight stairlifts as curved stair lifts are tailor made for each customer. The complexity of the stairlift itself requires a professional to install and is rarely installed by the customer themselves. Our curved stairlifts are sometimes braced the walls though this is not usually the case.
Things to remember
If your stairlift is battery powered it is highly unlikely that an additional electrician is required at the installation, but most of our stair lift engineers are qualified electricians in addition to their engineering qualifications.
In regards to fixing the stairlift to your staircase tread, for carpeted stairs the screws are just simply screwed through the carpet and pad so there is no need to get a new carpet once the stairlift is installed. Stone and concrete stairs are more difficult to fix to but nothing is an obstacle for our engineers!
Our engineers take pride in their clean, no mess installations and will leave your house looking untouched, apart from the stairlift of course.
Once the stairlift is installed your stairlift will not take up much room as almost all modern stair lifts are compact built.
