Cheap Stairlifts – Things to Consider

There are a number of options if you are looking for cheap stairlifts but don’t want to compromise on quality and safety.  Cheap and affordable stairlifts are available from many manufacturers but the cost does depend on a number of factors.

Straight or Curved Effects the Price

Straight models are relatively cheap stairlifts in comparison to other variants. They require very little customisation and are simpler to install once your staircase has been measured by a professional.  You also have a huge choice from most of the leading manufacturers.  Prices and features vary, but you can purchase a straight stairlift from around £1,500.

You may however, require a curved stairlift, depending on the stairs in your home.  As each curved stair lift requires customization to fit individual staircases, the cost is higher.  As a rough guide you can expect to pay at least £4000 for a curved stairlift and often more, depending on the staircase and your own requirements.

Cheap Stairlifts – Reconditioned Models

For those hunting cheaper stairlifts – reconditioned models offer a more affordable alternative than buying brand new.  Reconditioned stair lifts are pre-owned models that have been bought by a manufacturer, re-fitted and refurbished to be used again.  They are safe, almost as good as new, and importantly for those on a tighter budget, cheaper.  Reconditioned curved stair lifts may still require customization, but will still save you money over a new model.

Cheap Stairlifts – Rental Option

Finally, if your search for cheap stairlifts has been frustrated with the options above, rental could be the alternative you are looking for.  Rentals will usually be reconditioned models and you will pay a small installation charge along with a monthly fee of around £50.  You receive the same level of service as with a new stair lift, plus no maintenance worries – that’s all taken care of by the rental company.

I might want to rent a stairlift (straight) around 15 stairs. Not a lot of space at top landing. Can you give me a quote. Possible rent for 2-3 months. Andrew Reply to this comment Andrew Lee August 15th 09

Hi Jean,

Thanks for the question. It depends on a few factors really, stairlift brand and model and the age and condition of the stairlift.

We cannot say without getting a few more details from you. I will pass your email onto someone who will contact you to discuss your stairlift in more detail.

Many thanks,
