UK Stairlifts are pleased to be able to lend our support to the Blackburn and Darwen Disabled Access Group (BADDAG). The group was established with the aim of providing dignified access in town centres, shops, offices and government buildings, to those that require it.
The BADDAG work with the local council on projects to ensure the needs of the disabled and those with mobility problems, are recognised and addressed. The BADDAG are also more than happy to offer their advice and specialist knowledge to local employers and organisations when they are considering accessibility issues.
Shopmobility
The group have also set-up a scheme to lend mobility scooters, wheelchairs and power chairs to people that require them for shopping in the town centres of Blackburn and Darwen.
The mobility products can be loaned from two stalls, one in Blackburn market and one in Darwen Market. If you are disabled or have limited mobility, whether temporarily or permanently, then you can take advantage of this hire scheme to make your shopping possible.
To use the scooters and wheelchairs, you must first become part of the group and sign-up is free. You are then free to loan the equipment, but the group ask for a minimum donation of £2.00 for up to three hours use.
On non-market days, the equipment can be obtained from the Market Office, but it is recommended you call ahead first.
